A REVIEW ON THE EFFECTS OF CLIMATE CHANGE ON POULTRY PRODUCTION: IMPLICATIONS FOR AGRICULTURAL EX...
The paper's goal was to examine the impact of climate change on poultry production. Climate change's impact on agricultural production was underlined, and the consequences of climate change on chicken production were investigated. The study discovered that high temperatures, rainfall, and relative humidity had a significant impact on chicken production, particularly in terms of meat and egg production, disease outbreaks, feed consumption, and the immune response system. Dietary modifications, breeds suitable to the local environment, adequate housing, and sanitation procedures are among the climate change adaptation techniques utilised by chicken producers, according to the report. In order to increase output, the birds must be appropriately enclosed to protect them from physical risks, rain, and extremes of heat and cold, and farmers should choose chicken breeds that are suitable to the climate in their location. Climate change had negative effects on poultry production, and despite the adaptation practises used, there were constraints to climate change adaptation by poultry farmers, including limited financial resources and poor management, which resulted in low productivity, a high mortality rate, and low income.
