ACID DYES BASED ON 4-AMINOBENZOIC ACID AND THEIR DYEING PROPERTIES ON NYLON 6.6 FABRICS | Journal..

Diazotization of 4-aminobenzoic acid with various coupling amines yielded a range of monoazo acid colours. The yields were determined to be in a good range, ranging from 46.5-74.5 percent. The dyes' structures were confirmed using 1H-NMR, MS, and CHN analyses, and the dyes' intensity was determined using UV-Visible spectroscopy (hue). These dyes were applied to nylon 6.6 fabrics at a depth of 2% and produced pale yellow, orange, and brown colours with medium to good light fastness and very good washing fastness. The dye bath's percentage exhaustion was found to be excellent. The high level of levelness and brightness achieved after washing indicates that these dyes penetrate well and have a high affinity for nylon 6.6 materials.
