ANALYSIS AND DETERMINATION OF AMBIENT AIR QUALITY STATUS OF PUDUCHERRY | Journal of Applied .....
The purpose of this inquiry is to determine the air quality in Puducherry by analysing the ambient air. This study looked at the ambient air quality in terms of particulate matter (PM), nitrogen oxides (NOx), and sulphur dioxide (SO2) for the year 2009 at six distinct locations. The IND-AQI technique was used to calculate the Air Quality Index. The calculated Air Quality Index values for SO2 and NOx fall into the 'good' and 'good-to-moderate' categories, respectively. The computed Air Quality Index value of SPM for all regions exceeds the Central Pollution Control Board's stipulated norms in New Delhi, India. In terms of SPM, SO2, and NOx, an ambient air quality survey was conducted at six monitoring stations. The Air Quality Index was calculated using pollutant concentrations. The air quality index was used in this study to analyse the ambient air in Delhi. As a result, SPM has been identified as a critical pollutant in these three Puducherry locations. The air quality index was used to analyse the ambient air in Puducherry city for this investigation. This study looked at the 24-hourly average concentrations of four major criterion pollutants, namely SPM, SO2, NOX, and CO, at six distinct locations in Puducherry city in 2009. Due to SPM, the total Air Quality Index was judged to be in the 'bad' category. As a result, SPM has been identified as a critical pollutant in these three Puducherry locations.
