ASSESSMENT OF PROXIMATE, VITAMINS AND MINERALS OF AFRICAN BREADFRUIT SEED (Treculia africana) | Jou
Treculia africana, or African breadfruit, contains a lot of nutritional value. This is a tropical evergreen tree that may thrive in a variety of environments. The goal of this research was to find out what minerals and vitamins this fruit has. Fruit samples of Treculia africana were acquired from Nkwogbe market in Ihiala, Anambra state. They were sent to Awka, Anambra state's Alpha research facility. The analysis was carried out according to protocol. The seeds comprised 8.00 percent moisture, 13.00 percent lipids and oil, 11.00 percent ash, 20.00 percent crude fibre, 9.60 percent protein, and 38.39 percent carbohydrate, according to the results. It had substantially greater carbohydrate content, but the moisture level was the lowest of the metrics evaluated. The seeds also contained significant levels of the following minerals and vitamins: Calcium: 273.74mg/100g, magnesium: 105.56mg/100g 7.10mg/100g iron, 8.47mg/100g zinc, 10.10mg/100g copper, 15.50mg/100g sodium, 0.53mg/100g vitamin C, 0.08mg/100g vitamin A, 8.00mg/100g vitamin E, 0.75mg/100g vitamin D In the parameter tested, African breadfruit had the greatest phosphorus content, whereas Vitamin D had the lowest. As a consequence, the findings suggest that African breadfruit might be used as a supplement to provide important nutrients to people while also providing health advantages.
