AUDIO-VISUAL MEDIA EDUCATION AND ORAL ENGLISH TEACHING IN NIGERIAN SECONDARY SCHOOLS | Journal of G

This study examines the issues of teaching and learning oral English in Nigerian secondary schools, as well as the necessity to use audio-visual media for successful learning, in light of perceived difficulty in speaking English orally and accurately. This research acknowledges that, despite the fact that Oral English has been introduced and taught in Nigerian secondary schools for decades, the oral English expression of students who graduate from secondary school into tertiary institutions remains weak owing to inadequate methods. This study examines and appreciates the capabilities of audio-visual media in bridging the gap between teaching and learning Oral English in Nigerian secondary schools, and suggests that all English instructors in Nigerian secondary schools employ them.
