BIO-FERTILIZER: AN ALTERNATIVE TO REDUCE CHEMICAL FERTILIZER IN AGRICULTURE | Journal of Global ...
Continuous use of chemical fertiliser in agricultural fields degrades soil and pollutes the environment, as well as endangering human health. The usage of cyanobacteria-based bio-fertilizers is a viable alternative for agricultural output. The goal of the study was to show that using bio-fertilizers can reduce the use of chemical nitrogen fertilisers while not impacting the plants' nitrogen requirements. Our experiment used Corn V-524 sown in plant pots in sandy-loam soil with a pH of 6.2, N total of 0.102 percent, and organic matter of 6%. The levels of nitrates and ammonium in the soil were greater in the control and bio-fertilizer treatments than in the chemical fertiliser treatment. The bio-fertilizer provided the plant with the nitrogen it needed, lowering the need for artificial fertiliser by up to 50%.
