CLIMATE CHANGE AND ITS CONSEQUENCES ON MAJOR CROPS IN INDIA | Journal of Global Agriculture and Eco
Recent study has focused on climate change and its effects on the global environment. Climate change and its consequences have been observed to be speeding up. Climate change has varying effects on many industries, with agriculture being one of the most vulnerable. This document quickly reviews climate change estimates and their consequences on agriculture, with a focus on four important crops in India. The length and timing of growing seasons, planting and harvesting calendars, water availability, site suitability, insect, weed, and disease populations could all be affected by changes in the weather system. Individual crops have essential climate thresholds for their growth and development processes, without which food grain production could collapse completely. The critical points for crop growth and development in general, as well as rice, wheat, maize, and cotton in particular, were examined.
