COCONUT PIT AN ALTERNATIVE SOURCE OF PRODUCING RENEWABLE MATERIAL (BIOETHANOL) | Journal of .......
Bioethanol was produced from coconut pith using sulphuric acid hydrolysis in the presence of Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Standard procedures were used to determine the bioethanol's fuel characteristics. The boiling point was 78.8°C, the density was 803.3 kgm-3, the API gravity was 43.7°API, the octane number was [RON131, MON119], the flash point was 15°C, the ignition point was 41°C, the pour point was -36°C, and the viscosity was 1.62cSt. The qualities of this fuel were found to be superior to those of existing standard and commercially available bioethanol.
