COMBUSTION SYNTHESIS OF ZnO NANOMATERIALS | Journal of Applied Chemical Science International

The combustion synthesis method is well-known for its simplicity in the creation of nanosized metal oxides. Self-propagating combustion methods using polymer as a fuel are used to create nanosized zinc oxide material. Zinc nitrate was burned in an open atmosphere for a few minutes with polyvinyl alcohol to generate zinc oxide residue. The structure of the produced zinc oxide sample was determined using a powder X-ray diffraction (XRD) instrument. The morphology of the as-prepared zinc oxide material was investigated using a scanning electron micrograph (SEM) equipment. A Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectral analysis was performed to determine the bonding in the produced oxide sample.
