CORROSION INHIBITION OF MILD STEEL IN SULPHURIC ACID MEDIUM BY AMBROXOL DRUG | Journal of Applied..

Chemical, electrochemical, and SEM techniques were used to test an expired Ambroxol medication as a corrosion inhibitor for mild steel in 1M sulphuric acid medium at various concentrations and temperatures. The results showed that as the concentration of the inhibitor increased, so did the efficiency of inhibition. According to electrochemical research, expired drugs behave as a mixed sort of inhibitor. The results reveal that inhibition occurs through adsorption of the inhibitor on the metal surface without changing the mechanism of the corrosion process. The adsorption of Ambroxol follows the Langmuir adsorption isotherm. Thermodynamic parameters were computed and debated. The findings acquired from the methodologies tested agree well enough to confirm the ability of employing expired Ambroxol drugs as corrosion inhibitors for steel in a sulphuric acid hostile medium.
