EFFECT OF DIFFERENT WEED CONTROL METHODS ON WEED GROWTH AND YIELD OF CORN (Zea mays L.) | Journal..

Weeds are frequently the most significant biological barrier to successfully growing crops, and an understanding of criticalweed control is essential for establishing ecologically sustainable weed management strategies to avoid unacceptable yield loss. The field experiment was conducted in 2014 at Shiraz Agriculture University's Agricultural Research Station. In a randomised complete block design with four replications, the eleven weed control methods of one hand weeding, twice hand weeding, thrice hand weeding, one cultivator, twice cultivator, Atrazine + Alachlor, Atrazine+ Alachlor + Eradicane, Atrazine + Alachlor+ cultivator, Atrazine + Alachlor + Eradicane + cultivator, Weedy check, and Weed freewere investigated. Weed density, weed fresh and dry biomass, corn growth, and yield were all found to be significantly affected by weed control strategies. Herbicide treatments had a greater LAI than the other treatments. The twice hand weeding yielded the maximum biological yield and grain yield, whereas the cultivator yielded the lowest. The maximum weight of 1000 grains obtained after thrice hand weeding.
