EFFECT OF MINERAL SYSTEMS ON COPPER AND ZINC REMOVAL FROM AQUEOUS SOLUTION PART II | Journal of....

The influence of mineral systems on copper and zinc removal was examined. This research looked into contaminated waters. Metal removal by kaolinite, montmorillonite, goethite, and their mixtures was found to be influenced by particle size, pH, ionic strength, particle concentration, and residence duration, according to isotherms. The sorption behaviour of kaolinite-montmorillonite and kaolinite-goethite differed from that of single mineral systems. Over the pH range examined (i.e. pH 4-8), these mineral systems inhibited Cu and Zn removal. The reaction to increased ionic strength (i.e. 0.00 -0.1 mol/kg) and solid content (i.e. 0.002 to 0.01 kg/L) was complex.
