EFFICACY OF CARRIER MATERIALS TO FORMULATE Trichoderma harzianum BIO-FUNGICIDE IN CONTROLLING SEEDLI

The efficacy of three different carrier materials, namely rice bran, wheat bran, and grass pea bran, as well as their combinations with mustard oilcake (MOC), were evaluated in order to formulate a suitable Trichoderma harzianum based bio-fungicide for controlling eggplant seedling disease caused by Rhizoctonia solani in tray soil and seed bed soil under net house conditions at Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI). A series of research demonstrated that rice bran based five combinations of carrier on T. harzianum bio-fungicides, such as (1) rice bran + wheat bran + rice bran + wheat bran + rice bran + wheat bran + rice bran + wheat bran (2) mustard oilcake + rice bran (MOC) (3) rice bran + grass pea bran, (4) rice bran + wheat bran + MOC, and (5) rice bran + grass pea bran + MOC were shown to be effective in reducing eggplant seedling disease under tray and seed bed soil conditions. In addition, in R. solani ill seed bed conditions, various combinations of carrier material based T. harzianum bio-fungicides greatly improved vegetative growth of eggplant seedlings, including shoot length, shoot weight, root length, and root weight.
