EFFICACY OF Isaria fumosorosea AND Metarhizium flavoviride AGAINST CORN PESTS UNDER LABORATORY AND..

Entomopathogenic fungi are regarded as one of the most effective pathogens against pests. After treating Ostrinia nubilalis, Sesamia cretica, and Chilo agamemnon with successive various concentrations of the fungus Metarhizium flavoviride, the fatal concentrations 50 percent under laboratory conditions (LC50) were 132x104, 136x104, and 146x104 spores/ml, respectively. Also, when the fungus Isaria fumosorosea was used to treat the pests, the corresponding lethal concentrations 50(LC50) were 156 x 104, 169 x 104, and 165 x 104 spores/ml, respectively.

The weight of corn crop in the plots treated with the fungus M. flavoviride and the fungus I. fumosorosea during season 2013 was significantly increased to 488881.20 and 390060.70, respectively, as compared to 261030.90 kg/ (feddan) in the control plots. During the 2014 corn crop season, the equivalent weights were 499149.43, 399943.14, and 250053.20 kg/feddan, respectively.
