ELECTROCHEMICAL AND QUANTUM CHEMICAL ANALYSIS OF THE CORROSION OF MILD STEEL IN THE CRUDE LEAF .....
In 1 M HCl, alkaloid and nonalkaloid extracts of Cnidoscolus aconitifolius stem were found to be mild steel corrosion inhibitors. The effect of mild steel corrosion in HCl solutions is investigated using traditional weight loss measurements, electrochemical, and polarisation techniques. Both plant extracts are good corrosion inhibitors, according to the weight reduction results. The results of electrochemical polarisation showed a heterogeneous manner of inhibition. The significant adsorption of active molecules leading to the creation of a protective layer on the mild steel surface is suggested by the increase in percent IE with change in extract concentration. Both stem extracts adsorption followed Langmuir adsorption, it was discovered.
