ENVIRONMENTAL STUDY OF THE EXOREIC WETLAND OF JALLABIA, SOUTHERN TUNISIA | Journal of Global Ecolog

An age model of sedimentation in the sebkha-lagoon of Jallabia was carried out to detect the climatic cyclicity based on the climatic phases already observed in other wetlands. Four significant climate periods were reported downhill along an 83 cm core. Anthropocene-Great Acceleration transitions and Holocene-Anthropocene transitions occurred 70 and 300 years ago, respectively, interrupting marine and continental sebkha sensu stricto facies. Between 600 and 1600 years ago, arid and wet climates alternated inside marine sedimentation. We discovered a 500-year cycle using the age model and spectral analysis. Geochemical and geophysical proxies were used to track this cycle all over the planet.
