EVALUATING THE ADOPTION FACTORS OF COMPUTERIZED ACCOUNTING SYSTEMS IN GOVERNMENT SCHOOLS | Journal
Despite the significant availability of computers in the Zimbabwean economy, the research sought to understand why government schools have not implemented computerised accounting systems. The study used a quota sample of 36 respondents from 30 schools in Goromonzi District, Mashonaland East Province, chosen from a total of 100 schools having at least one (1) accounts clerk or bursar. The data from the chosen research respondents was collected via a questionnaire survey. The study found that most government schools possessed computers, power, and enough and experienced human resources to implement a computerised accounting system smoothly, but that administrative attitudes and expenses were delaying implementation. The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education should lead the charge in promoting implementation.
