FOOD CONTAMINATED WITH AFLATOXINS: CONSEQUENCES OF DIRECT AND INDIRECT CONSUMPTION | Journal of...

Many studies have linked aflatoxins to liver cancer, but this is not the only condition that revolves around them. It has been observed that many diseases, particularly chronic aflatoxicosis, directly or indirectly affect the health of populations, particularly children and people with other conditions. In general, we want to show in this work the scenario involved in the consumption of these mycotoxins and the effects produced by the adducts or products that intervene within the human body, as well as the types of biomarkers that can be used to determine whether or not there has been exposure to these secondary metabolites and some chemoprotective drugs that are used to prevent further damage to the body. Conclusion: More research is needed to learn more about the elements that contribute to the various affectations and how to lessen the risk.
