KINETICS AND A MECHANISTIC STUDY OF α-AMINO PHOSPHONATES ALONG WITH A GREEN PROTOCOL FOR SYNTHESIS..

The synthesis of -amino phosphonates from a condensation reaction of trialkyl phosphite, aldehydes, and amine in the presence of succinic acid as a catalyst has been described under solvent-free conditions. The advantages of this new protocol were excellent yields, a quick reaction time, mild reaction conditions, increased availability, cheaper prices, being more ecologically friendly, not requiring column chromatography, and a simple work-up procedure. The process was spectrally monitored and followed second order kinetics. Furthermore, the effect of solvent, concentration, and various alkyl groups within the trialkyl phosphite on the rate of the reactions (structural effect) was examined. The first step of the mechanism was identified as a rate determining step (RDS), and the rate constant (Lnk1, Lnk1/T) was found to be in good agreement with the Arrhenius and Eyring equations. The activation energy (Ea) and reaction parameters (G, S, and H) were estimated using the experimental data.
