PERFORMANCE EVALUATION OF CROP INSURANCE SCHEMES IN HARYANA | Journal of Economics and Trade

The agriculture sector is critical to the development of the Indian economy and may be regarded the backbone of the manufacturing and service industries. Agriculture is still reliant on weather and climate conditions, which are always changing and unpredictable. Crop insurance is one of the ways that farmers may protect themselves against the financial loss of their crops due to natural calamities. The research is an attempt to evaluate the effectiveness of Haryana's crop insurance programmes. Haryana's economic survey and the Agriculture Insurance Company's (AIC) yearly reports for numerous years were analysed. In compared to other Indian states, the study's findings show that just a few projects are implemented in Haryana. The Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana continues to improve and be helpful to Haryana's farmers. As a policy recommendation, policymakers should include a no-claim incentive provision for farmers to encourage them to participate in crop insurance schemes.
