PREPARATION AND ANALYSES OF MULTIWALLED CARBON NANOTUBES/POLY (METHYL METHACRYLATE)/POLY (BUTYLENE..
Solution casting was used to create solid films of Poly (methyl methacrylate) (PMMA)/Poly (butylene terephthalate) (PBT) mix and functionalized carbon nanotubes (F-MWNTs)/PMMA/PBT. The aromatic amine (COC6H4NH2) groups were added on the surface of carbon nanotubes via Fridel Craft acylation during functionalization. The PMMA and PBT were shown to be immiscible in the morphological research. The addition of F-MWNTs to the PMMA/PBT blend reduced the size of spherulites, according to a polarised optical microscope (POM) investigation. The thermal characteristics of PMMA/PBT were somewhat improved by introducing F-MWNTs into the polymer blend, according to thermogravimetric analyses (TGA). When compared to PMMA/PBT blends, mechanical parameters such as tensile strength and tensile moduli of F-MWNTs/PMMA/PBT ternary blends improved but elongation at break dropped.
