PREPARATION AND PERFORMANCE OF COMPOSITE PHOTOCATALYST WITH TiO2-CeO2 SUPPORTED ON ACTIVATION AND ..
Sulfuric acid and tetrabutyl titanate sol were used to activate and modify the fly ash (FA) carrier surface, and the CeO2-TO2/FA composite photocatalyst was made using a simple wet-chemical technique. X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), the BET surface area (BET), and the Energy Dispersive Spectrometer were used to analyse the phase, composition, and surface microstructure (EDS). Using methyl orange dye as a degradation object, the photocatalytic activity of composite photocatalysts was examined. The modified FA was more advantageous to loading photocatalysts via tetrabutyl titanate sol processing than the activated FA, which improved specific surface area by soaking in H2SO4. Under UV irradiation, the as-prepared CeO2-TO2/FA composite photocatalyst showed higher photocatalytic degradation efficiency; the composite photocatalyst decolorization efficiency with a weight 3 percent loading amount (CeO2:TiO2=1) can reach about 90% after 90 minutes; the mechanism of action and carrier effect were discussed in the meantime.
