RAINFALL INSTABILITY AND CROP WATER REQUIREMENT IN THE EFFECTS OF OPTIMUM PLANTING DATES ON GROWTH..

At Kwadaso Ghana's Central Agricultural Station, an experiment was undertaken to evaluate maize crop water requirements and measure rainfall instability. Using the CROPWAT model and meteorological data from the station, this was done during the major and minor rainfall seasons of 2012. According to the findings, maize irrigation water requirements in the minor season (167.8 mm/season) were higher than those in the major season (37.9 mm/season). Furthermore, in the major and minor seasons, the best planting dates for maize were March and September, respectively.
