SYNTHESIS AND CHARACTERISTICS OF AZO PYRIDONE PIGMENTS, COMPLEXED WITH SOME TRANSITION METALS; CU...
A series of 3-(p-substituted phenyl)azo-6-pyridone dyes were synthesised and complexed into pigments with Copper, Nickel, and Chromium metals, resulting in reduced solubility and elevated melting points. The dyes and pigments have been analysed using FTIR, GCMS, and UV visible spectra. In acetone, the electronic absorption of the complexes covers the maximum range of 460 – 490 nm. The dyes' extinction coefficients were found to be modest, ranging from 5.84 104 to 7.54 104 Lmol-1cm-1.
