THE EFFICACY OF INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY (ICT) IN ENHANCING QUALITY OPEN AND DISTANC
The goal of the study was to uncover the perspectives of Programme Leaders at the Zimbabwe Open University's National Centre about the usefulness of information and communication technology (ICT) in improving quality Open and Distance Learning (ODL) teaching. It was a qualitative case study that included twelve National Centre Programme Leaders from the four faculties of the ZOU: Arts and Education, Applied Social Sciences, Commerce and Law, and Science and Technology. The data for the study came from a questerview, which included demographic information and open-ended questions on the subject under investigation. The participants in the study lacked enough computer literacy abilities to achieve the efficacy of ICT in improving quality ODL education, according to the findings. The study also found that ICT is beneficial to ODL tutors in the preparation of their job in the hunt for high-quality ODL instruction The study indicated that ICT offers a solid foundation for high-quality ODL instruction. It was also discovered that students are not given any ICT training during their first semester of university enrollment. As a precondition for excellent ODL education, the research suggests that both instructors and students get frequent and timely ICT training. It also advocates for the use of the Andragogic ICT Model (ADIM) to improve the quality of ODL instruction.
