VEGETATION PROFILE, COMMUNITY STRUCTURE AND DIVERSITY OF BANJ OAK (Quercus leucotrichophora A. CAMUS

In the Garhwal Himalaya, a comprehensive forest research was conducted in 19 Banj Oak (Quercus leucotrichophora A. Camus) forest stands. The composition, community, and diversity of all Oak woodland stands were investigated. In all analysed Oak forest stands, 134 species from 107 genera and 63 families were found, including 31 species from 26 genera and 17 families in the tree layer, 47 species from 35 genera and 22 families in the shrub layer, and 56 species from 46 genera and 24 families in the herb layer. The highest mean stand tree density (1388163 tree/ha) was found in Diwalikhal oak forest, while the lowest (61566 tree/ha) was observed in Koti forest. The maximum mean density in Masoorie and Tirpalisain Oak forest stands was 28.61.7 plants/25 m2.
